Fusedjaw.com Apparel Shop Sneak Peak

« posted: 3 years ago »
I'm putting together an apparel shop for fusedjaw swag and those interested in seahorses. It's still very much a work in progress, but I thought I'd share it with anyone who is on the forums for now. It's using the Print On Demand printing, which means it's only printed at the time it's ordered, so it takes a little longer to receive. The company SpreadShirt does the bulk of the work. I picked them over better known sources like Cafe Press because the quality is outstanding. They handle the ordering, shipping, exchanges, etc . . .

There are products in the shop specific to fusedjaw.com, and some that are just seahorses. About half the designs are ones I made myself, the other half are ones I paid to use. Some are kind of dumb. I'm not a great humorist, but they crack me up. :P My favorite is the octopus riding a seahorse, holding pistol shrimps I've dubbed "Keep On Ridin'". The concept was thought up by my husband, who swears he's not a "fish guy"*, and drawn by the wonderful artist James Keonig.

I still have a lot of work to do to get it organized in a more sane fashion, and I have some additional designs in my head I plan on turning into shirts. So it's not officially released, but I thought I'd share it here if anyone wanted to take a look or share their thoughts about the shop and the different options.

I feel it is important to disclose that I I do make a small amount of money on the designs, but most of the cost goes to the company making the shirt, SpreadShirt. (As it should, they're doing most of the work!) The amount ranges from under a dollar to a few bucks, and any money is just going to go back into the various projects I have for fusedjaw. I have been looking at different revenue sources, as the site has grown, it's taken more to keep up with the increased cost. Not that anything would stop me from writing about seahorses. But it's also not really meant to be a money maker, it started as an excuse to make some fun t-shirts for myself, and I thought I'd share. :)

I'm not sure how long before it's up officially; I need to order the products in a way that makes sense, and integrate into the site and it's not high on my priority list (I haven't finished an article since May!!!). It will probably keep changing as I have time to work on it.

Awesome! Like the designs. The octopus one is pretty funny. Love the pistol shrimp!

I think it's a great idea, 8)  I've seen a few that I like and would order if and when it's ready.

Would just like to say thank you for all this work you are doing for us on Fusedjaw.com.and the help when things go wrong and we don't know what to do.

A big thank you to your husband,as if he's anythink like mine,he's there when needed and puts up with a lot for our seahorses.(will you do this, can you do that,it'll only take you a minute,I'll get you dinner when I've done this )

Once more thanks.

Thanks everyone! It's been a lot of fun to make. And thank you, Sue! Though I don't think there is anything that would keep me from running the site (I just wish I had more hours in the day!)

I just wanted to add a quick note too about size; the way spreadshirt does size/measurements is weird. Most clothing company set it up to measure the circumference of the body part. However, spreadshirt does it where the measurement is the width of the material. I figured that out the hard way when I purchased a shirt based on what I thought was the circumference, and ended up with a dress.

Stuff is already available for sale, it's just the shop is disorganized at the moment. :) I'm not sure how long before I have it really finished and integrated into fusedjaw, but it's all operational through the spreadshirt store.
