I got some algae ordered from Seahorse Source today, and Fedex, being the wonderful a-holes that they are, decided to drop the package at the door without ringing the doorbell. I was home and I waited and waited and waited until around 3pm I started to worry. Then I remembered Fedex has delivered packages in the past without ringing the doorbell.

I'm sure you can imagine my delight when I saw that not only was it delivered, it was delivered at 9am. I was home, I have two dogs that will bark at the slightest noise outside. No barking, no doorbell. Now, I think thanks to Dan's packaging that everything will be fine (at least I hope). But I am so pissed at fedex.

I've complained to them before about this. Their excuse in the past has been that "most doorbells don't work" they've also lied to me and said that the driver knocked - no, no he didn't, one time I was sitting on the couch about 6 feet from the door waiting for a package when the driver left silently.

UPS has done it too, though after enough complaining, our driver now knows to ring the bell. And honestly, I don't mind the ding-ding-ditch approach, because at least I then know the package is there.

I'm seriously pissed, and seriously considering trying to rig up some motion sensor alarm outside my door. Of course who knows how often the neighborhood fauna will trip it? Maybe I can turn it on just when I'm expecting packages.

GRR. This stuff really pisses me off. I just needed to vent. (>д<)

Hi Tami,

Can you sign up for delivery alerts with FedEx?  I know you can with UPS.  Then you get an email soon after the package is delivered.

I consistently have the same issue with FEDEX. Last week I requested that a package be held for pickup at 9am. At 4pm, they left it at the door. In talking with FEDEX, they state that the system didn't update in time even though online I could clearly see that it updated at 9:20am. Luckily it was only some live food. Of course 2 hours in 30 degree weather, they were all dead. Never have any issues with USPS or UPS.

Darrell, now that you mention it, I have, and it's never worked. Maybe time for another call into Fedex? It's supposed to alert me any time a fedex package is destined for my address. I thought "cool feature" and I've never gotten any notifications.

Hullaquatics, yeah, I feel you. I tweeted it to fedex, because sometimes I get better results that way. But I'm actually beginning to suspect it's standard operating procedure. I doubt they'll actually fix anything.
