Seahorse Necklace

« posted: 4 years ago »
Hello! I was looking through some of my things today and I found a forgotten necklace charm. It is a gold seahorse! I don't know if it is a plated seahorse, or a hollow gold mold. It used to belong to my mother. She let me have it because I thought it was beautiful. I can not believe that I almost forgot I had it in my possession. Do you guys like it?

I would guess that this is a real, dried, plated seahorse.

It's a lovely necklace! I always get worried when I see jewelry using real seahorses, but I'm guessing as it's something your mother had, it's old enough that even if a real seahorse was used, it's probably before anyone knew better and certainly before they were threatened.

There is a sculpture that sells some really neat marine fish themed jewelry that is sculpted. I have a ghost pipefish and my husband bought me the seahorse.

The whole store is full of amazing stuff though. I kind of want everything here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/Dive4Jewelry

I really want this one next: http://www.etsy.com/listing/79156631/sterling-silver-box-puffer-fish-pendant?ref=shop_home_active_19 :)

I love it. I wish it wasn't a real seahorse, though. I want to be a vet and I want to save animals, not wear them! I do make an exception for this though! I probably would not have bought it on my own. My dad got me a jacket once with real rabbit fur and I refused to wear it. I think I was only ten! I really love the jewelry posted! It's very pretty. I think it would be fun if everyone posted their seahorse themed items on here! I especially want to see those wind chimes!

I love that silver seahorse. I'm with you in that I'd rather save animals but it's so hard to save everyone or everything. I do try as right now we rescue guinea pigs and rats. My daughter wants to work with animals and is homeschooled so she has the time to help or else I probably wouldn't be able to do it.

I love rats! Guinea pigs are okay, but I just adore rats. I have my own rat and her name is Thalia but we just call her Rat. I am so happy to see that there is a fellow rat person on this forum! I am always happy to hear about people who love rats because I've had a few people look at me with disgust when they find out I own a rat. It's so disappointing. They haven't owned one, so how do they know? I've even had someone embarrass me in public. But that's water under the bridge. I just feel a little bit more at home here! Sorry for the off-topic rant!

Rats are so incredibly sweet. I used to keep them, but their short lifespan was just so hard to deal with. But I agree with you guys, they are just wonderful pets. So many people freakout over them and they are so friendly. After I lost the last two girls I had though, I just couldn't bear to get any more.

My first rat I got as a kid. This was before there was all the information there is now about the ideal setup. She lived alone (something I'd never do now) in a 10 gallon aquarium with a screen. She used to break out of her cage at night and sneak into my bed at night. I'd wake up to little feet touching my face, or a warm, moist tongue licking my face. She never had any interest in escaping, only coming to hang out with me.

Years ago when i was at school,we had animals to look after mine was a brown and white rat who was named micky. To get from one part of the school you needed to go though the diner hall, the times i would get told off because he was up inside my jumper, school holidays he would come home with me(much to my mothers dislike)

What a beautiful piece. I would probably wear it every day! I love sea-related charms anyway, but the seahorse is incredibly beautiful.

I just love that seahorse charm. It is very realistic, implying it could be a real seahorse.
But I wonder if it couldn't have been passed away already when it was made? At least I would like to think that way. I suppose I am being naive... ::)
They sure are "magical " creatures though, huh? Who needs unicorns when there are seahorses?  :D
