Wild Seahorse Filmed Giving Birth

We've got lots of video of them giving birth in captivity. Someone captured it in the wild:


I love how excited the diver sounds around the 0:54 mark!

A good shot although it seems a little intrusive. I was surprised as the fry were not "ejected" out of the pouch. More like squeezed out one or two at a time. Some had to wiggle their way out with the tails being stuck.

It is fascinating to me that something so slow and bite sized as a seahorse fry can make it in the wild. Kind of a miracle really that they make it at all. I remember reading somewhere that maybe one in a 1000 make it to adulthood but that may be for erectus not all seahorses.

Thanks for posting, white's seahorse is not one that we see in the hobby very often.
