Just how tiny are pygmy seahorses

I never get over just how incredibly tiny pygmy seahorses are. Here is an H. denise that really shows just how small it is:

(from: http://www.newscientist.com/blogs/shortsharpscience/2012/09/teeny-tiny-seahorse-found-in-u.html)

It's not clear whether its an adult or juvenile, but either way; it's just so small. And if it's an adult, well, there are several species smaller than these guys.
  • H. erectus, H. comes, H. kuda, H. zosterae, Doryrhamphus excisus, Bryx dunckeri, Corythoichthys flavofasciatus
It's all about the snick!

They're so cute yet so small. They only grow to about 1.4 to 2.7 cm in length. That's a very tiny animal.
