Mysis from Bulk Reef Supply (BRS)

« posted: 1 year ago »

I just noticed that BRS is selling frozen food, including Hikari mysisi.  I don't know if they have been doing this of a while or not.  Has anyone ordered from them before?  If so, did the product appear fresh?  I've ordered from Drs. Foster & Smith in the past, but each order seems to look worse than the previous, so I think it is time to try a new supplier.

I also would be curious to know how good it looks.  Currently I am getting mine from Petco and it seems ok but I don't have much confidence in them.  Unfortunately the good lfs I relied on went out of buisness.

I'll be needing some in the next few weeks, so I'll report back.

The mysis at my local Petco is just about black!

How did the mysis look when you got them?

They did add dry ice but it evaporated. They are reshiping with no hassle also.

That's not good!

Were all four the same thing?  One had a very different color.

3 were mysis, 1 was jumbo mysis. It was the one that looks different.

OK, I got my order from BRS yesterday.  They ship next day economy, which means a late afternoon delivery for me.  The Drs ship with morning arrival.  But BRS ships with dry ice pellets, rather than the gel freezer packs that the Drs use, and the mysis was still frozen solid.  The shipments from the Drs also appear good and frozen too.  It is nice to not have to throw away a ton of the gel packs, though.

I think the mysis look a bit better than the last few shipments I got from the Drs., and much, much better than anything I've ever seen at my local Petco.
