Promoting breeding

« posted: 3 months ago »
Is there any way a person could promote breeding in a Erectus Seahorse tank eg. switching the light on for longer or dropping temps ? My previous Erectus were so eager to breed, my current 18 month olds seem to have very little interest at all ?

A longer photo period may work. High quality foods and good water quality.  I also had great luck when I put the lights on a timer.  Blue lights on first for 30 minutes, then the whites on. Reverse order at the end of the day.  By having the lights come and go off at the exact same time they tend to get into a regular courting routine.  After awhile, mine would settle into their "sleep spots" about 15 minutes before the lights went out.  They have a pretty accurate internal clock.  Especially when you are late for a feeding lol.  They give you "that look"...Hello....feed me...YOU ARE LATE  ha ha ha
