They are looking great, :) are they as big as they look ,only when i took some of mine at few days old(only managed to get them to six days)they looked bigger then they were.

Good luck with them, keep updating the pictures a week at a time if you can.I love seeing how they grow. :)

Well good news is I had 12 babies live to 3 weeks.  Then I left for vacation to Hawaii and my coworker took over who has saltwater experience.  She was able to have survivors another 10 days!  So this is definitely a record for me!  Definitely on the road to having success soon I hope!

Hi Eric,

Wow you did a great job in keeping the babies that long, the longest i managed was about 2 weeks,my erectus have given up haveing babies,as i lost a female and a few weeks later lost a male, couldn't find a reason for their deaths

Have got a tank with 5 boys and 5 girl kudas so hope they may get together, until i get some more erectus.

Another new record for me, but from a different brood.

I've got 18 babies at 40 days today ;D.  So I took a little video.

Thanks Sue, you are correct H. erectus ;)

I just started feeding them today live adult brine shrimp enriched with Algamac 3050 and astaxanthin.

Here is what I did to this point after lots of trial and error previously.  Thanks to so many peoples help especially Tami!

What I use:  1 gallon glass drum bowls( I have 3 of these I rotate and sanitize with bleach between uses).  Rigid tubing running the air at a nice roll...not too aggressive, but aggressive enough to make the water roll.

First 5 days I feed decapped fresh hatched bbs.

That point forward I add decapped brine eggs to my hatcheries. bubble for 36 hours. rinse with tap water, soak for 30 seconds in 3% hydrogen peroxide to keep pathogen growth down, then add back to fresh saltwater.  I add algamac 3050 and astaxanthin and/or spirulina.  I gut load this 1-3 times for 12 hours each time.  between each gut load i rinse with tap and soak in 3%h2o2.

I think I really misunderstood the water quality issues I was having previously.  I thought the scratching was coming more from pathogens than ammonia.  Wow did I underestimate this!  I do a 100% water change every day or 2 depending on the time I have and how the water and babies look.  I add either live phyto or sanolife mic F from seahorse source(this stuff is great for water quality control!!)  I also add a few drops of amquel each day.

Clearly, I am not very experienced.  But, this system seems to really be working so far for me.  If any of the seasoned vets in hear have any other advice on this please chime in I would love to hear!

Thanks 8)
